In 2021, MuncieArts was selected by the City of Muncie to administer $500,000 of new funding for Public Art Projects from the American Rescue Plan. With this funding, we will work with the community to implement many new projects in select neighborhoods around the city.

Our ARP and Public Arts committees have been working throughout the last year on a series of updated plans and procedures to help Muncie Neighborhoods and the City maintain and grow the Muncie public art collection.

Our vision:

To elevate, curate, and expand Muncie’s diverse, unique and equitable public art collection.

To educate the public about the benefits and qualities of public art that inspire appreciation.

To work with existing and planned cultural assets, development, and infrastructure to develop dynamic new public artworks, while also thinking big about the future.

All projects will be developed in consultation with communities and neighborhoods where the projects will be installed.

Local, Regional, and National artists will be selected through public open Requests for Qualifications. Projects will be installed between 2022 and 2024.
