The Muncie Arts and Culture Council is the official “Arts Partner” for the City of Muncie. As Arts Partner, we integrate the arts into municipal initiatives that involve Economic Development and Quality of Place. As an arts alliance, we strive to build community among artists and arts organizations, and be a resource that enables professional growth and opportunity.
Beginning with the first “Creative Conversation” in 2009, followed by MACC’s designation as a 501(c)(3) in 2011 and the subsequent establishment of a formal relationship with the City of Muncie in 2015, the Muncie Arts and Culture Council has been celebrating and supporting arts and culture locally for ten years.
About the Position
The Executive Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MACC). The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities are to implement the organizational strategic plan through: development and management of community arts programs; securing grants, sponsorships, and other sources of funding; and serving as an advocate for arts and culture in the City of Muncie, Indiana. The Executive Director reports to the MACC Board of Directors.
To be happy and successful in this position, a candidate should demonstrate a passion for the mission of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council and a sincere commitment to continuous improvement of quality of place for the city of Muncie. This position works in a highly visible environment – attending community functions and events as able. They should enjoy working with a broad constituency – from artists to donors. Written and oral communication skills will allow the candidate to be comfortable in making oral presentations to individuals, community, and regional organizations as well as provide clear written reports and proposals. They are expected to seek out and participate in opportunities for professional development and demonstrate continuous improvement in performance.
