Celebrating and Supporting Arts & Culture
Your support today and every day helps ensure the continued vibrancy of our community through exciting and innovative arts experiences for all!
Enabling the arts to thrive is a community-wide effort. Since MACC’s humble beginnings in 2009, strategic partnerships and supporters like you have helped make it possible for us to champion arts and culture in lasting ways including local designation of 4 Cultural Zones and the first Muncie Arts & Culture Trail, adoption of the City’s first Public Art Plan, and more.
In 2018, MACC moved into a new home and launched PlySpace, an artist-in-residence program that fosters local collaboration between Muncie’s nonprofits and creative practitioners from across the country. Our inaugural That One Film Festival screened 35 works of moving image from around the world. We facilitated professional development, exhibition, public installation, and community building opportunities for area artists of all backgrounds. And next year, we’ll bring new art projects to Muncie’s public places, host the third biennial Mayor’s Arts Awards, and continue to empower our city’s artists, businesses, nonprofits, and cultural initiatives.
Of course, it’s your enthusiastic response to these activities that makes all the hard work worthwhile. If one of our programs has had an impact on you this year, we hope you’ll consider making a donation or joining our membership today!

Muncie Arts and Culture Council is the designated Arts Partner for the City of Muncie, Indiana. Home to four locally designated cultural zones, Muncie is a vibrant center for arts and culture with an impressive heritage of advocacy for the visual and performing arts.
Downtown Cultural Zone
Muncie’s Downtown is a hub for art galleries, locally owned restaurants and businesses, theatre, arts instruction, photography, street festivals, nightspots, and outdoor music concerts. The Downtown area is home to numerous non-profit organizations and businesses and is host to events such as receptions, proms, galas, concerts, guest speakers, and parades.
Ball State University Cultural Zone
Ball State University features art galleries, musical performances, theatre shows, and lecture presentations. Numerous student and professional and national touring productions are performed throughout the year. The surrounding area offers restaurants, shops, night spots, and outdoor events.
Minnetrista Cultural Zone
Along the banks of the White River, Minnetrista and the surrounding area offers museum exhibits, beautiful gardens, and events such as the Farmers Market, Garden Fair, and outdoor music performances. The legacy of the Ball Family is showcased through their historic homes, and various buildings and areas of the campus are often the site of many social group meetings, trainings, weddings, birthdays, and more.
Heekin Park Cultural Zone
Featuring historical statues and monuments, picnic areas, outdoor events, and playgrounds, Heekin Park is at the southern tip of Muncie’s Cultural District. The Cultural Trail offers bike traffic to the park by way of Hackley Street, and Heekin Park is home to several non-profit organizations.
MACC appreciates the businesses and organizations that make our work possible. We invite you to join them.
