MuncieArts, in partnership with Muncie Public Library, is hosting a Public Art Community Workshop focused on the Whitely Community on Tuesday, June 11 from 6–7:30 pm at Connection Corner (1824 E Centennial Ave, Muncie, IN 47303).
Local artists Aimee Maychack and Mary Arnett-Delaney (M.A-D.), are hosting a pop-up shop at the PlySpace Gallery - featuring cards, mini-graphic novels, paintings, linocuts, prints, stickers, and more! Come by between 5:30-8:30 to check out the wares and support local artists!

Work began last week on a sculptural public art piece that will hang permanently in the downtown Muncie alleyway. This installation was brought to light – literally – by MuncieArts and the City of Muncie.

Lexi Musselman joined our MuncieArts team early on this Spring! She recently received her MA in Social Practice Arts from the University of Indianapolis, and graduated from Ball State University in 2017 with her BFA in painting. She will be assisting with all of our programs including PlySpace, Box!Box!, public art, and much more!
Derek Spencer (Los Angeles, CA) will direct his cast and crew through an open rehearsal at 7pm on Thursday, April 7th in the PlySpace Gallery (608 E Main Street). In preparation for their upcoming performance, the cast is seeking audience members to join them for a brief interactive and immersive practice.
Derek Spencer (Los Angeles, CA) will present an artist talk about his past projects and process on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:00pm in the Arts and Journalism building, room 225, on the campus of Ball State University. While at PlySpace, Derek has been working with acting students from Ball State University’s Department of Theater and Dance, led by teaching professor Veronica Santoyo, to create a devised adaptation of The Eumenides by Aeschylus as his community collaborative project.
We will be at the 2022 IDEA Conference on March 5th at the Ball State University Student Center, to discuss the American Rescue Plan Public Art and Beautification Funding that will be administered by MuncieArts, as well as how Muncie Neighborhoods can work with us on neighborhood projects. The Muncie Arts and Culture Council invites the public and MuncieArts membership to join us for an informational annual meeting, celebrating the amazing arts and culture community of Muncie.
MuncieArts received a matching $30,000 Arts Project Grant to support its PlySpace Residency Program. The funds will be used to bring 12 visiting artists to Muncie to work collaboratively with nonprofit organizations, schools, and community groups on special community-focused projects.

Muncie, IN—The Muncie Arts and Culture Council, in conjunction with the City of Muncie, celebrated the 4th biennial Mayor’s Arts Awards on Friday, Nov. 12, at Sursa Performance Hall on the Ball State University campus.
Jordan Delzell will transform the PlySpace gallery (608 E Main Street, Muncie) into a recycling center where the Muncie community can drop off paper materials to be recycled and learn about paper-making with recycled materials. Jordan will facilitate the workshop “Recycling as a Creative Practice: Paper-Making with Found Materials'' on Saturday, December 4 at 3:00 pm in the PlySpace Gallery as well as offer drop-in times for the recycling center. Jordan’s residency at PlySpace will culminate in an artist talk and exhibition in the PlySpace Gallery on Thursday, December 9, at 6:00 pm.
The Mayor's Arts Awards returns to Muncie on November 12th for our 4th biennial event! We hope you are as excited as we are to celebrate the contributions of our amazing nominees and performers as we gather for a night to remember. See you at Sursa Hall at 7:30 p.m.!
Adam Stacey and Makenzie Goodman will present an Artist Talk about their past and current work on Wednesday, November 10, at 7:00 pm in the Arts and Journalism Building room 225 on the campus of Ball State University. On Thursday, November 18, Stacey and Goodman will host a one-night only immersive installation entitled, The First Guide in the PlySpace Gallery (608 E Main Street, Muncie) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Both events are free and open to the public. Masks are required.
The Summer 2022 Residency Term Application is now open, with a deadline of December 1, 2021 at 11:59 PM. All applications are submitted through www.plyspace.org/application-guidelines/
PlySpace, the artist in residence program of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MuncieArts) presents a one-night only artist talk and performance by PlySpace Resident, Camila Ortiz on Thursday, October 21 at 6:30 pm in the PlySpace Gallery. Ortiz will perform “touching the stove coil”, a collection of songs she created during the month of October while at PlySpace. The songs are explorations of personal and family histories interwoven with scenes from her time in Muncie, and will be performed on guitar, voice, and electronics. This event is free and open to the public. Masks are required.
PlySpace, the artist in residence program of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MuncieArts) will be hosting Open Studios on the second floor of Madjax during October ArtsWalk on Thursday, October 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Stop by and get to know the fall PlySpace residents, Adam Stacey, Makenzie Goodman, Lyzette Wanzer and Camila Ortiz. Each will be on hand to talk about work and their upcoming projects in Muncie.
