Join us Friday November 12th! Mayor's Arts Awards!
The Mayor's Arts Awards returns to Muncie on November 12th for our 4th biennial event! We hope you are as excited as we are to celebrate the contributions of our amazing nominees and performers as we gather for a night to remember. This year, the Arts Awards feels especially poignant following on the heels of the pandemic. In order to be accessible for all citizens, this event will be a mask-required event, and a public broadcast of the event by Ball State PBS will occur later this fall.
The Mayor's Arts Awards is always free, and open to the public! Celebrate with us! NO tickets are necessary.
The public awards event will be held at Sursa Performance Hall at Ball State University at 7:30 PM, and will feature performances from many of Muncie's very best creatives, including Muncie Civic Theatre, Ball State Department of Dance, Ball State School of Music, Muncie Ballet, Muncie Central Jazz Band, and more! Nominees and awardees will be celebrated in style!
Thank you to our 2021 presenting sponsor, Ball State University College of Fine Arts.
The award ceremony will be followed by a public Community Reception from 8:45-10:00 PM in the Mueller Lobby (outside of Sursa Hall), with light refreshments, cash bar, craft sales by the BSU Student Art Guilds and local artisans, and tunes by Muncie's own, DJ Jannell!
The Community Reception has been generously sponsored by Raymond James.
This event is made possible by the City of Muncie, the Muncie Arts and Culture Council, and our wonderful sponsors, members, and the public!
The Mayor’s Arts Awards celebrates and recognizes the contributions to the cultural community by visual, performing, and culinary artists, musicians, writers, poets, rappers, directors, producers, craftspeople, arts educators, arts patrons, arts professionals and volunteers, as well as organizations, institutions, government agencies, corporations, and businesses who work in or for the arts primarily benefiting the residents of Muncie.
The goal of this program is to help cultivate greater visibility and understanding of the value of the arts, as well as grow new leadership and new patrons of the arts. We hope you will help us celebrate!
Parking on campus is FREE after 7:00 pm. There is parking available in the McKinley garage (adjacent to Sursa Hall), and the Arts and Journalism Building parking lot, access from Riverside Ave across from the David Owsley Museum of Art.
