Title: Muncie, the Mother Hen

Location: Charles and Hackley

Statement: I am not from Muncie, but I feel like I grew up here. I was a young adult when I moved here, but did not know myself, so Muncie basically raised me. I’m from Hazel Park, MI and we weren’t as connected to nature and livestock there. When I moved to Muncie, I grew to appreciate this city and it means a lot to me.

Being a mom, chickens remind me of myself, with their constant busyness, and their child rearing. Chickens look out for one another and their children, just like we do in Muncie. Each panel shows the life stage of a chicken, eggs, chicky, young chicken, mother with eggs and mother with children. Muncie is a great place to raise our children, and also a great place to grow up as a young adult as well and that is what I hope to portray in this artwork.

Bio: I am a stay at home single mom whose life revolves around their kids, ages 3 and just over a year. Art is something I enjoy both as a means of expression and an activity I do with my kids, and I would like to share that joy with all of you. I would like to inspire them and other children to follow their dreams and to keep doing art. I hope to become a children’s book author and illustrator and be involved in children’s animation someday.
