Project Title: Field of Flowers

Location: Wysor and Madison

Statement: How splendid it is that the beauty of one flower does not threaten the beauty of the other, and together they form what one could not alone.

I often look to nature when looking for inspiration, and the inspiration for this design stems from four native Indiana flowers and the desire for unity. A collage of coneflower, milkweed, beebalm, and rudbeckia are painted surrounding two holding hands.

In fields of flowers, we see that a singular species of flower is enriched by diversity and the presence of other species of flowers. We see beauty thoroughly created in all its unique forms, the beauty of one neither taking away nor threatening the beauty of another. Together they form what one species could not alone.

Bio: My name is Katarina Antal and I am a young artist studying Landscape Architecture at Ball State University. My love for art and nature brought me to Muncie in 2017 and I am presently entering my 4th year at Ball State.

I have done several public art projects previously, including painting a recycling bin for water bottles for Flint Central High School, in Flint Michigan during their 2016 water crisis. As well as, a storm drain for the 2019 Goshen Storm Drain Art Project, in Goshen Indiana.
