Artist: Kelsey Gordon
Project Title: Stay Weird Muncie
Location: Riverside and Wheeling
Statement: Though I was not born here, I feel a strong sense of connection and community in the city of Muncie. It is beautifully weird and delightfully quirky. There seems to be something for every walk of life here, and the combination of cultures, perspectives, and individual people make me feel at home. I love seeing the city embrace what makes it different and hope that it continues to stay weird!
Bio:I first came to Muncie a few years ago to attend Ball State’s Master’s in History program. Since moving here, I have fallen in love with the city and have chosen to make it my permanent home. A long time lover of art, I often have spent most of my free time throughout my 26 years either painting or taking pictures. While I took a handful of classes in high school, as well as grew up with a grandmother who was a professional artist, a lot of what I do is self taught. I try to work with bright, vibrant colors as I want my work to truly stand out. My preferred medium is acrylic, and I try to combine as many painting techniques as possible in each piece I do to give it a unique feeling.
