Artist: Zach Poor
Project Title: Ripple
Location: High and Adams
Statement: The White River has been at the heart of Muncie since its most humble beginnings. Built on the banks of the fabled horseshoe bend, our city has always found its identity in proximity to the river. While at times it has kept us apart, now more than ever it's celebrated as our greatest natural asset. Throughout the decades, its bends and flows have shaped our community–how we grew and how we viewed ourselves. “Ripple” speaks to the wide-reaching impact the White River has always had on the city. Highlighting the unique form that has identified the region for centuries and rendered in a highly graphic ”thick lines” style inspired by mid-century design and its contemporary rebirth, “Ripple” connects Muncie's past, present, and future.
Bio: I am a lifelong creative with a passion for my adopted home of Muncie. A graphic designer by trade, I create works in a variety of mediums. I'm interested in the intersection of digital and analog creative expression, which informs my work in design, film photography, printmaking, hand lettering, drawing, and more. I'm also an avid cyclist which allows me to develop a personal connection with the city through its trails, streets, and natural experiences–a connection that inspires much of my work, including "Ripple."
