Project Title: Girl Scout Fun

Location: Walnut and 22nd

Statement: We started with learning about utility boxes and their use as well as why adding design can help our community. Our first step was to understand what those big boxes actually do and what they do to help our community. After talking with the girls about the “brain of the box” and why those boxes are all around our city, we were able to view a box that was painted displaying beautiful cardinals.

After seeing a colorful, attention grabbing box for a little visual aid, we were able to get to work. We started with a generic drawing of the box. Then the girls were asked to draw a picture to explain what a Girl Scout looks like to them.

We had some rough drafts with ideas from some of the scouts but of course as with all projects, the rough draft is never final. We revisited our ideas to modify, add, and combine our ideas into one. Our goal was to leave our Girl Scout mark and make the world a better place.

Bio:Girl Scout Troop 04469 is a growing group of young ladies, ranging in grades from kindergarten to 4th grade, ready to help spread Girl Scout cheer through design and artistic expression. Our want is to create a display that not only helps beautify the neighborhood, where we hold bi-weekly meetings, but also encourage other girls to join in the Girl Scout fun.
