Artist: Chloe Weaver
Title: Aquarium
Location: Madison and 15th
Statement: When I heard about the Box! Box! Project opportunity, I was immediately drawn to the idea of doing it and the meaning behind it. I knew this was not an ordinary community project. Art is something that needs to be shared, and when it is, it brings people together. Therefore, I’m so excited to be involved in the community and to decorate Muncie in such a fun and creative way. I want to create an exciting experience for drivers, passengers, and walkers to engage in through the artistic process of the project and the final product afterwards.
Since this project is on a 3D platform, it feels more interactive and alive to me than a single flat canvas, so I want my viewers to feel the aliveness of it too. I am transforming the traffic control box into an aquarium to bring it to life. There are sea creatures, seaweed, coral, and structures living inside the box. I want to bring a splash of fun to Muncie with beachy and aquatic characteristics to what is inside the aquarium. There is a fun interaction of all the objects and creatures growing, swaying, and swimming in the water, along with bright and fun colors. I want to attract kids’ playfulness and imagination while allowing people of all ages to engage in the aquarium and in Muncie’s art.
Bio: My name is Chloe Weaver and I have lived in Muncie almost my whole life. I am a student at Ball State University and I am majoring in Art Education. I plan to specialize in either drawing or painting because those are my passions that I have been doing for so long. I draw, paint, work with 3D material, and create digital images and videos. I have always loved art from a young age and am constantly creating for school and in my free time. During the past couple of years, I have become so immersed in the art world and I cannot stop exploring, learning, and creating! My goal as a future art educator is to inspire and lead people into the art world as well as enhance the art world.
