Title: Under the Same Sun

Location: Port and Hoyt Avenue

Project Statement:

The Muncie community is such a unique multifaceted place. I'm always struck by how quickly you can go from the heart of downtown, to a vibrant neighborhood, to a corn field in what feels like a blink of an eye. On one side of the box is the city and town life with the contrasting (or complimenting) other side depicting the country and farm. The sides that come together blend the two into one community. The sun rising and setting every day brings such hope to a world and community that battles hardship and trauma everyday—a picture of resilience. I'm proud to be a part of a community where people from many different backgrounds can live together and become stronger in unity.

Artist Biography:

I'm originally from the suburbs of Chicago. Muncie felt so small when I first arrived as a college freshman at Ball State. After graduating with a degree in graphic design and working in the area, I started to make Muncie feel like home. I've always loved painting, drawing, creating as a way to refresh, climb out of slumps, connect with God, and learn more about myself. My favorite thing is taking something old and turning it into something useful or beautiful. Since 2020, I've been serving as the Community Awareness Manager at Open Door Health Services providing graphic design, video content, and even some painting.
