MACC and BSU School of Art Partner on Professional Development Artist Series

Shannon Linker.

Muncie Arts and Culture Council and Ball State University School of Art have partnered to present a series of professional development talks and workshops for artists throughout 2017.  The second event in the series brings Shannon Linker, Vice President and Director of Gallery 924 for the Arts Council of Indianapolis, to Muncie Maker Lab in Downtown Muncie Thursday, March 23rd from 7 – 9 PM.

Shannon Linker will talk how to navigate the art world as an emerging artist and share industry standard best practices for approaching and working with galleries. She has been with the Arts Council of Indianapolis for 14 years.  Along with curating and managing the council’s contemporary gallery space, Shannon serves the local professional artist community by creating programs and services intended to help build their careers. Programs such as the on-line Artist Directory, the weekly Artist Opportunities E-newsletter, the Artist Industry Nights events, and the online Artist Resources Directory are key aspects of her role at the council.

In 2007, as the Director of Artist Services, Linker led the development of the Be Indypendent: Buy Indy Art movement that continues to create visibility for local artists and independent business owners in the city. Shannon also oversaw the council’s public art program from 2013 – 2014, which creates and facilitates public art opportunities for the city of Indianapolis as well as private entities.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Doors open at 7 PM. Linker will speak at 7:15 PM then take questions from the audience. Muncie Makes Lab is located at 628 S Walnut St. Muncie, IN. Parking is available in the lots north and west of the building. Visit www.munciearts.org for more information and upcoming events in the Professional Development Artist Series.

Muncie Arts and Culture council seeks to create, educate, advocate, nurture, and inspire integration of the arts via civic initiatives and through engagement with individual artists and arts organizations.
