Project Title: Metamorphosis

Location: Tillotson and Bethel

Statement: This abstract artwork depicts the change of a student from their first day arriving on campus to the day they fly away. As you approach the campus of Ball State University, the viewer sees a caterpillar and its chrysalis formation. As the viewer leaves campus, they see the outstretched wings of a butterfly. This metamorphosis is what I and many other Ball State students experience as we grow throughout college and prepare to fly into the rest of the world. The piece includes vibrant colors and dynamic shapes in the hopes to bring some light to those who pass by.

Bio: Sydney Johnson is a current Ball State student studying for her BFA in Animation. Since arriving in Muncie as a freshman, she has developed a deep love for the city and is passionate about using art to build up community. Sydney enjoys conveying themes of faith in her work and hopes to continue to use art and film as a means to share love and truth with others.
